On the evening of Monday 29th June 2009, the Forum of Faiths for Derby held its annual general meeting at the Community Building on Arboretum Park. Our guest speaker, Inderjit Bhogal from the Yorkshire and Humberside Inter-Faith Council, gave an inspiring talk on the future of interfaith
and Shakti Arts premiered a new piece, created especially for the Forum, entitled The Rainbow People. Seven performers used dance and drama to give the message that working together changes the world for everyone! Colourful ribbons added visual impact, which was enjoyed by not only those who came to the meeting but many people on the park who stopped to enjoy it! This piece is the first steps in our long term plan to use the Arts to promote interfaith understanding and is part of our Prevent Programme of events.
The event was 'bring & share' catered, everyone was invited to bring an item of food to share which provided a great variety of different and very enjoyable dishes.
