Over six weeks, this course aimed to explore three faiths: Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism, through sharing thoughts and ideas with people from different faith communities and two speakers from each of the three faiths.

A Journey through the Faith History of the World!

Arbo-Lights took place in the historic Arboretum Park, Normanton, Derby from 4 to 7pm on 21st November 2009. The Forum of Faiths for Derby gave the people of Derby a unique opportunity to journey through the Faith History of the World. The journey was illuminated by hundreds of glow sticks and at intervals along the route there were illuminated displays from each of the Faith Communities in the order they appeared on earth. The journey finished with a multi-coloured Interfaith Display showing how the faith communities are working together.

On the evening of Monday 29th June 2009, the Forum of Faiths for Derby held its annual general meeting at the Community Building on Arboretum Park. Our guest speaker, Inderjit Bhogal from the Yorkshire and Humberside Inter-Faith Council, gave an inspiring talk on the future of interfaith

Islamic Educational Visit |

On 4th July 2009, the Forum organised a daytrip to visit to the Markfield Education Institute in Leicester, where the group was taken around the institute, enjoyed a buffet lunch and had a go at some traditional Islamic caligraphy.

In June 2009 the Multi-Faith Centre hosted a performance by the Khayaal Islamic Theatre Company entitled "Sun & Wind" on behalf of the Forum.

People of the Book Events |

Over six weeks, this course aimed to explore the three Holy Books: The Bible, The Torah and The Koran, through sharing thoughts and ideas with people from different faith communities and two “experts” from each of the three faiths.

On Saturday 25th April 2009 approximately 30 Faith leaders in Derby came together at the Multi-Faith Centre at the University of Derby.
|
|
In March 2009 the Forum ran an art workshop to bring people of different faiths together to create pieces of art work. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended and created some inspiring works of art!

From June - December 2008 the Forum ran 15 events to help people learn more about different faith communities, and attracted over 500 people!
